Abandoned. One vile word that describe East Coast of Surabaya nowadays. Even though it’s already claimed as Important Bird Area/ IBA by Birdlife international, East Coast of Surabaya potential still hidden from public interest and grow into a ruined ecosystem that perfect for illegal hunters that already spread since 2019. Moreover, the local birdwatchers community, the guardian of migratory birds in Surabaya, struggling to thrive and lack of facilities and accommodations.
That’s why, in memorial of 6 migratory endangered species that died during this dark times, here is Migration Station to restore migration ecosystem of East Coast of Surabaya and to empower the birdwatchers community. More than just connecting and breaking boundaries, this facility create a symbiosis between man, migratory birds and nature. Together, little by little, this facility can co-exist and accepted as part of migratory birds temporary habitat. This is the happy ending for the birds and a reformation for the local guardians story to be the global heroes for migration sustainability.
